Conversational SEO with Search Console

Conversational SEO, here, is not a synonym for voice-search keyword stuffing. It means you ask Search Console the question you would ask a consultant, and you expect an answer grounded in that property’s rows.

Ask Google Search Console, do not relearn the UI

GSC already has the queries, pages, clicks, impressions, CTR and position. The work is choosing a question. “Why did clicks drop last 28 days?”, “Which queries lost impressions this week?”, “What pages should I refresh first?” — those are chat-shaped questions. A GSC chat should return a plan, not a replica of the Performance table.

That is different from pasting a CSV into a generic chatbot. If the model cannot see your property, it will invent a lecture. If it can see the rows and still ignores them, it is not conversational SEO. It is copy.

Questions that stay honest

Good asks name a window and a job. They do not ask for guaranteed rankings. They do not ask the model to write 40 titles with no evidence. Useful starters:

  • Why did clicks drop last 28 days?
  • Which queries lost impressions this week?
  • What pages should I refresh first?
  • Where is CTR unusually low for position?
  • Any rising queries I should build pages for?

Each of those can be checked in the Search Console UI. The conversational layer is there so you leave with a list, not so you skip the data.

Keep the answer tied to the property

A grounded reply cites queries, URLs and dates from the property you picked. It should say what it is not doing — no site-wide rewrite, no invented competitors, no “we grew traffic 40% for clients like you”. If you cannot point at a Search Console row, treat the sentence as optional.

Read-only access is enough for this job. You do not need a write-GSC scope, and you do not need a second product to “apply” titles to WordPress. Someone still has to do the work in the CMS.

Where a chat helps, and where it does not

A GSC chat helps when the team already agrees the source of truth is Search Console, and they keep arguing about the next step. It does not replace Coverage, URL Inspection, or a crawl when indexing is the issue. It does not replace analytics when the question is “did the campaign land?”.

If the real need is a weekly list, use the Search Console action plan guide. If the real need is a dip, start with why Search Console traffic dropped. Ask is the interface; the investigation is the same.

How AskGSC uses this

AskGSC is a small ask loop on your Search Console data. Sign in, connect GSC with read-only access, pick a property, and ask. You get an action plan — refresh, fix, double down — tied to what changed. Free is 1 site and 1 ask per UTC day. Start at https://askgsc.com.

FAQ

Is conversational SEO the same as voice search optimisation?
No. Here it means asking Search Console in plain English and getting a plan from that property’s data — not stuffing pages with spoken-word keywords.
Can I ask Google Search Console in a generic chatbot?
You can paste exports. The risk is a generic answer that ignores your rows. A GSC chat is only useful if it stays tied to the property.
What is an “ask” on AskGSC?
One question about a connected Search Console property. Free allows 1 ask per UTC day on 1 site. You get a grounded action plan back.
